Guys, the cleaners of the daily mail, all of whom are migrant workers, are going on strike soon. Support them when they do, out of the dual purpose of a) supporting migrant workers and b) fucking over the daily mail as much as possible

My dear ancap, I would like to tell you a story. A story about a strike - or rather, a story about two strikes, and what they tell us. One strike is the Irish banker’s strike of 1970. It lasted for the remarkable length of six months, and shut down every bank in the country. This was before ATMs, mind you, so people’s access to money, bank services, was completely cut off - for six months. Economists predicted dire consequences. They said that the economy would collapse completely without access to the services for which bankers were paid so highly. The country held its breath as the first day of strikes were carried through.

By contrast, let me tell you about what happened when the street cleaners of New York City went on strike in 1968. The strike lasted for eight days, before the pile-up of trash was so great that that mayor at the time had to declare it a situation of emergency due to the spread of diseases. Accommodation was very quickly reached with the striking workers, and they got back to work, this time with improved wages and conditions. [source]
The lesson here is that cleaners have one of the most important jobs in the world, without whom our cities would collapse completely. I would like to see the high-and-mighty editors and garbage journalists try to handle the cleaning themselves, and see how they like it.
