Because that’s where they sit. The people who come in here with their stories.

“how good a shot are you” “how badly do you want to find out” “if i die here my body will be found in a building with your face projected on the front of it” [nod]

mary and sherlock are both in complete understanding that mary has no qualms about killing sherlock i don’t understand why so many other people don’t think so lmao

The first time and the last time.

The lie of BBC Sherlock.

detectivesinsuits:

I was watching HLV, and realized that in the scene where Sherlock speaks to Mary when she reaches Leinster Gardens, it was really Mofftiss speaking to the TJLCers/the people who read subtext.

MARY: Well, what am I looking for?
SHERLOCK : The lie – the lie of Leinster Gardens – hidden in plain sight. Hardly anyone notices. People live here for years and never see it, but if you are what I think you are, it’ll take you less than a minute.
SHERLOCK : The houses, Mary. Look at the houses.
MARY: How did you know I’d come here?
SHERLOCK : I knew you’d talk to the people no-one else would bother with.
MARY : I thought I was being clever.
SHERLOCK : You’re always clever, Mary. I was relying on that. I planted the information for you to find.
MARY : Ohh.
SHERLOCK : Thirty seconds.
MARY: What am I looking at?
SHERLOCK : No door knobs, no letter box, painted windows. Twenty-three and twenty-four Leinster Gardens, the empty houses. They were demolished years ago to make way for the London Underground, a vent for the old steam trains. Only the very front section of the house remains, it’s just a façade. Remind you of anyone, Mary? A façade. (Source)

Here’s what the writers were really trying to tell us in this scene :

TJLCers : What are we looking for?
MOFFTISS : The lie – the lie of BBC’s Sherlock – hidden in plain sight. Hardly anyone notices. People have been watching the show for years and never see it, but if you are what I think you are, it’ll take you no time. The scenes, look at the scenes.
TJLCers : How did you know I’d pay attention?
MOFFTISS : We knew you’d pay attention to the details no-one else would bother with.
TJLCers : We thought we were being clever.
MOFFTISS : You’re always clever. We were relying on that. We planted the information for you to find.
TJLCers : What are we looking at, then?
MOFFTISS : Several classic romantic tropes are used between them. The episodes aren’t case-focused anymore, so that we could direct more and more focus to John and Sherlock’s relationship. People still think it’s a detective show, when it’s really a show about a detective, the surface-readings are just a façade. Remind you of anything? A façade.

@victorianpining:

In the recap Sherlock asks who needs him this time, we are shown Moriarty’s face as Mycroft replies “England”

In the episode Mary get’s a telegram from “M.” Mrs. Hudson asks who it is and Mary replies “England”

I have a mighty need to know why no one is talking about this extremely telling moment in HLV. (x)

John looks painfully insecure, confused, hurt, uncomfortable, and in that final frame, ready to push Janine down the stairs.

This is the man who, just hours before, woke up from dreaming about Sherlock, was rude to a neighbor because she wasn’t Sherlock, broke into a crack den, and beat up a junkie… all because he hadn’t seen Sherlock for a single month. He’s obviously missed him like crazy and got the ultimate slap in the face when he perceives that Sherlock didn’t miss him at all (because of Sherlock moving his chair out of the room) and has, in fact, moved on.

Everyone take note that this is how Captain John H. Watson looks when he thinks he is losing the person he loves but refuses to be with. This is how he looks when he thinks no one is looking.

And he’s clenching his left hand.
