The Holmes Brothers + free them
Okay so someone reblogged this with something like #sherlock is asexual tho
like cool headcanon and all, but putting aside the fact that asexual people can have and enjoy sex, read between the lines here.
Mycroft is lonely, but he doesn’t really think of himself as lonely because it’s all he’s ever known. To Mycroft, he is simply “above” intimate relationships, since he’s “above” people in general
Sherlock thinks that Mycroft doesn’t allow himself to connect to people because he thinks people will mind that he’s different (“So what, he’s different, why would anyone mind” = different people don’t need to be isolated). But he knows that deep down, Mycroft craves that emotional intimacy with other people.
Now Mycroft thinks Sherlock is alarmed by sex, even though Sherlock doesn’t exactly think he is. To Sherlock, he is simply “above” such physical impulses like sex. To Mycroft, Sherlock is so intimidated by sex that he avoids it completely (the way Mycroft is intimidated by rejection, so he avoids relationships). The deliberate mirrored phrasing shows that this is perhaps for the same reason, that he is afraid to connect with people because he’s different. And Mycroft knows that deep down, Sherlock craves that physical intimacy with other people.
Basically just free them
i’ve been feeling so sad all night so i’ve just been playing the ukulele and honestly whoever said ‘this machine kills despair’ about the ukulele was fucking right
tbh the only necessary straight couples have already been written/produced by michael schur so we can stop now
why couldn’t rowling have approved of a very potter musical and just be done with it
it drives me to irritation when people use the “because she’s a mother” explanation for a woman’s strength
i’m sure the incentive to protect their child is powerful and perhaps i’ll never fully understand that, never having children
but can’t a woman just be strong?? can’t a woman just have power and the foresight to use that strength???
and i’m getting so mad at this xm:a review excerpt:
“I get it: Life is hard for mutants. We all get it. It’s literally the only thing mutants ever seem to talk about. It is odd that other superheroes seem to get to have some fun, but never the X-Men. Here we are, 16 years later, and everyone involved is still sad. It feels repetitive.” [source]
basically, “constant oppression is BORING.”
x:men has always been a metaphor for the marginalized groups and movements like civil rights and lgbtq rights and the whole fucking point about it is that they are constantly oppressed and trying to fight to make the world a better and safer place for themselves and for those who aren’t like them
like this doesn’t mean that they are never happy but this is what life is CONSTANTLY like for these groups of people. it’s a struggle every fucking day.
so try living it and then tell me how it’s getting too repetitive and boring for you.
they literally used the phrase “meat dagger” in the show
it’s so far past the subliminal line you can’t even see the line the line is a dot to you
Honestly, I didn’t even realize it myself, it took some meta to point that out to me, so kudos on noticing it even with a skeptical perspective!
Like that must have taken an awfully specific case in which he had to identify “gay underwear” to solve, and to actually retain the knowledge seems rather strange.
and really, just thinking about all the things that Sherlock keeps (AKA deems “important” or “relevant to the work”) makes it all clear
alright sherlock “all that matters to me is the work” holmes
okay… that sounds fake but okay…
wouldn’t it just be easier to tag #tDNrmojas at this point
We all know the johnlock kiss is gonna be the death of us
But I just really want those fuckers to hold hands
Their hands and their intermittent tremor that keeps them squeezing when anxiety hits them and their hearts are breaking and they keep clenching the air when really they just want to clench the others hand just leT THEM HOLD HANDS
you know how mofftiss didn’t tell amanda abbington about her secret past until they filmed hlv
so i wonder if maybe mofftiss didn’t tell her about johnlock so she can act just like mary, unknowing of sherlock and john’s feelings besides what she only suspects
martin is so effing soft tho
like he’d like you to think he’s got that napoleon complex and acts egotistical to compensate but when it comes down to it he’s a soft roll of bread with melted butter baked in
imagine sherlock using john’s little ah-he-hem as a text alert
So I watched TAB with @theconsultingvillain and her friend who is a Casual fan of Sherlock. I was interested to hear what she would think of the episode as I have been a bit angry that the casual fans do not seem to even suspect the gayness, which I thought was fairly obvious in TAB. My biggest annoyance was that people seem to think that Sherlock took drugs just to ‘solve the case’ of Moriarty’s apparent rise from the dead. At the end of the episode I asked her what she thought the reason was for Sherlock taking drugs and overdosing. Her answer was what I suspected: to figure out if Moriarty was alive or not. I explained that even if that were the case, Sherlock would have to have known to bring drugs with him on the plane (or get high right before). So it is very likely that there was another reason for him to take the drugs (i.e. his emotional turmoil over leaving John).
Once she understood this, she agreed with me about the drugs. This made me realize that Casuals are not necessarily anti-gay or unobservant: they simply don’t have the tools to understand the greater meaning of the show (TJLC). Also, they are not hugely invested in the show so they do not particularly care about spending the time to develop those tools. It would be as if an expert chess player asked me to predict the winner of a particular chess game based on the pieces played so far on the board. Not only do I not understand chess very well, I do not have any significant interest in it that would lead me to want to learn. I would simply make my best guess and move on. These casual fans are doing the same: observing the show at its surface level and making their best guess. Once Johnlock happens, I believe they won’t be opposed, just surprised and maybe a bit confused. Thankfully, we will be there to enlighten them and explain.
This is all so true. Honestly, watching this show with casuals can make you feel a bit like Sherlock in a room full of Andersons. And if and when tjlc is fulfilled, it’ll be our turn to accept their finally understanding embrace with an awkward pat on the back
i really don’t think channing tatum is that attractive either, but then again what do i know i’m in love with 44 yo angry small man with a pudge whose personality is that of an elderly landlady who makes tea for everyone
