My favorite potterlock of all time. It starts at John and Sherlock’s first year of Hogwarts and goes through all 7 years. They start as friends before slowing becoming something more. I love how this fic incorporates all of the other characters as well.
I love this fic (and series) SO much. After meeting John in detention (typical), Sherlock pines for him from afar and the two quickly become friends. However, it takes John inviting Sherlock over for Easter break for them to finally become something more. So sweet it will rot your teeth.
This takes place post-season 3. John’s past catches up with him when a murder appears to be the work of a dark wizard. Sherlock learns about the magical world and not everyone is who they appear to be.
John is a wizard but has abandoned the magical world to live as a muggle. When he finally uses magic to stop Sherlock from The Fall. Naturally, Sherlock has some questions. This is part 1 of a series; I recommend the others as well.
Sherlock and John are both in training to become Aurors and study together. John teaches Sherlock how to cast the Patronus charm. You may cry when you learn that Sherlock’s happiest memory is just studying with John.
There is a curse on the mistletoe at Hogwarts that causes it to cling to students who are in love. Sherlock finds mistletoe attached to him rather a lot.
This fic is ingenious in the way it connects magic to Sherlock’s emotions. Sherlock is a wizard but has not used magic in a long time because it betrays what he is feeling. When John (a muggle) moves in with him he decides he needs to learn how to control his magic better. Simply beautiful.
Sherlock and John always stay at Hogwarts during the winter break. Irene decides to interfere by giving them presents laced with love potion. However, John doesn’t seem to be acting any differently…..
When John and Sherlock are attacked by dementors, they start investigating some mysterious deaths. Sherlock is a squib and John is a former Auror. Sherlock discovers what John means to him while also grappling with a killer.
john: hey, ah……… [touches sherlocks thigh while he’s working on his microscope shit, cheeky laughter] you want to maybe, uh………?
sherlock: [raises an eyebrow]
john: [licks his lips]
[just silence as they stare at each other]
sherlock: oh! you’re trying to court me.
john: …….court you.
sherlock: yes.
john: sherlock. what the fuck
Anyone find it weird that so many characters in Sherlock have the same name? What a bizarre coincidence! But what do we say about coincidence? The universe is rarely so lazy. There aren’t that many characters in the 10 episodes, so why use the same name twice, let alone four times? This is meant for us to notice something in the subtext. Seeing as how the four men named William are all of different ages, and Sherlock’s real name being William revealing he is one of them, the other men serve as markers for different points in Sherlock’s life. First we have Archie, whose name changes to Billy in TAB. He’s smart, affectionate, reserved, and curious about the world around him. Then there’s Bill Wiggins, the deducing teenage drug addict who’s brilliant with chemistry (Sherlock’s graduate degree). Next there’s Sherlock who revealed his real first name in HLV. But who is the fourth? Would you be shocked to find out it’s the Innkeeper/Chef from The Hounds of Baskerville who works with his partner. An openly gay man proud of being with his partner. Talks to strangers about relatively intimate details (is yours a snorer?). And a CHEF nonetheless. Don’t need to elaborate on that cooking/food metaphor. So I deduce the writers have already told us what kind of boyfriend Sherlock will be. Loving, proud, affectionate, loves to have sex. So much to look forward to.
