I think you always have to remember that, of all the people that Sherlock Holmes ever met, this is the one he chose to rely on. In the judgment of a genius, this is a brilliant man. He’s not a brain, but Sherlock doesn’t need another brain. He needs the most reliable, competent, dependable human being in the world.
— Mark Gatiss about John Watson, The Sherlock Chronicles (via johnlockfulfillment)
Mark Gatiss retweeted this on April 2nd, and I’ve not seen anyone talking about it (though I’ve not been around much the last few days), so I thought I’d share. Mirroring his thoughts on baby Watson perhaps? A baby? Pure tripe!
Gatiss: Have you seen extended mind palace theory?
Moffat: Yes, Sue showed me. I’m worried we’ve finally pushed the fandom too far. We’ve broken them.
Gatiss: Well you did write all that dodgy plot in HLV. How do you expect to follow all that up anyway?
Moffat: HLV won awards I’ll have you know. And I told you we’ll fix HLV in season 5. We’ll think of something.
Moffat: But I’m still worried about extended mind palace theory. You just had to change your tie.
Gatiss: I told you, a mid morning tie change is an essential element of Mycroft’s character. Anyone can see that! At least I didn’t add an ambulatory houseplant into the episode!
Moffat: That houseplant was brilliant. Everyone loved the houseplant!
Gatiss: Well, granted.
Moffat: Okay. We’ll just have to calm the fandom down. Is it too early to leak some wallpaper samples?
Gatiss: Arwel should have something to tweet in a few weeks. In the meantime lets talk to Amanda about some small harmless script leaks. Nothing controversial.
Moffat: That might not be enough but it will have to do for now. We need to get ready for filming.
