the irene conversation was the greenhouse scene so next we have the wife coming back to kill the unfaithful husband and then we have them discovering that moriarty is central to the entire plot and THEN we have them pushing moriarty over a waterfall and living happily ever after
Since I’m studying a bit of ASL I was wondering what sign Wilder used to refer to Watson.
Apparently it’s the sign ‘Dr. W’ in BSL but according to this thread on Reddit it can also mean ‘sorry’.
(In my small opinion they signed pretty well!) Tho I kind of wished they had given Watson a more ‘special’ sign? If you know what I mean?????
Here is the sign convo translated by jessatemyspider on Reddit!
What they signed: Italics denotes signing errors. [ = Subtitles on screen] As a general rule of thumb, nouns are usually mouthed.
Sherlock: Good Morning Wilder(sign name) Brother, my, there? [Good morning, Wilder. Is my brother in?]
Wilder:Breakfast now [Naturally, sir. It’s breakfast time.]
Sherlock: (pointing) that room? [The Stranger’s Room?]
Wilder: Yes [Yes, sir]
Sherlock: (gesturing Watson) is-with-me. [This gentleman is my guest.]
Wilder: (nods) Dr-W. Book “Blue Diamond” enjoy. [Ah yes! Dr. Watson, of course. Enjoyed ‘The Blue Carbuncle’, sir.]
John: Thank you. I happy you like. You very-ugly. [Thank you. I…am…glad…you…liked it. You are… very ugly.]
Wilder: Sorry? [I beg your pardon?]
John: What you said: Blue Fish, very-ugly. I happy you like my potato. [Ugly. What you said about ‘The Blue Fishmonger.’ Very ugly… I am glad you liked my potato.]
Sherlock: Practice, dance learn stop. Signing learn. Let’s-go. [Yes. Needs work, Watson. Too much time spent on dancing lessons.]
